Verne Q. Powell Kingwood Piccolo #9963 with Sterling Silver Keys, A= 442, Overhauled in 2009

Built in 1998, this Powell Kingwood Piccolo has become something of a rarity, as Powell no longer makes Kingwood Piccolos with sterling silver keys (they can only be had with gold keys, as of the past 2 years).

Overhauled in December '09 at the Powell factory, the new pads will ensure that the next owner will have years of playing with only yearly maintenance to attend to.

The intense, dark and warm hues of the Kingwood body provide great beauty tonally. The centered and clear quality is extremely consistent throughout each octave, and ppp is easily attained in the 3rd register...and a rich and broad low register. A wonderful attack makes for comfortable articulation throughout.

Kingwood is a type of rosewood, from Brazil, which is no longer available for importation. Once the Powell Flute Company has expended its supply, they will be making no further Kingwood Piccolos. As a result, these lovely instruments will become collectors items.

With only 2 prior owners, the piccolo has been cared for meticulously, and is in perfect condition, with no dings, dents or scratches.
