Verne Q.Powell #795
Open hole, Sterling Silver, in-line G, with Eugene Lorello headjoint Commercial Open hole French style, .018 silver tube, drawn tone holes, traditional A=440, C-foot, and inline G
Made in August of 1948, matched with a Lorello headjoint, this three
digit Powell so coveted by many, has been in the possession of the
original owner all this time.
It's not hard to understand why this seller has waited until now to let
the instrument go. The huge volume is not to be believed from this
truly vintage sounding flute. #795 offers a richness comparable to any
gold flute and is easy to play and light in the hand. Lorello
headjoints are rare and this particular one articulates beautifully and
has a dark core coupled with ringing overtones. Lorello had worked in
the Powell shop and later began a business of his own in New York City.
One must play this flute to truly understand the capabilities of this
vintage instrument and fall in love with the craftsmanship of Powell
and Lorello.
The flute is in remarkably good, original condition with minor signs
of wear that could easily be buffed away; or on the other hand,
perhaps the buyer would prefer to have the flute remain in this vintage
condition for maximum authenticity. The choice is yours.
No dings, dents, or scratches.
