Verne Q. Powell #752

Verne Q. Powell #752, handmade, sterling silver, .014 tubing, Inline-G, open hole, with C-foot and additional B-foot

Amongst those who focus on three-digit Powells, this flute brings out the best of the vintage series with warmth, depth, projection, power, subtlety and soulfulness. Owned for a time by Sid Zeitlin, it was played in the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Seattle Symphony, and the Minnesota Orchestra, at length. Powell #752 was made in December of 1947. Truly a rare find, this flute has the most perfect balance of core and overtones which is far and above so many flutes that we have seen. The volume capability is astounding offering quick tapers from pppp to FFFF effortlessly. The tone fills the space in that omnipresent way that we all want resulting in a stalwart yet lovely projection of sound. The overtones are particularly sweet, strong, and bell-like, spinning over a centered, rich core. With like-new Straubinger pads and a fluid mechanism free of any burden, #752 is notable as an exceptional flute. The sale includes the original B-foot and additional C-foot.
