Verne Q. Powell #1886-SOLD

Verne Q. Powell #1886 is fully handmade in the French style, all silver, open hole flute with in-line G and B-foot. Soldered tones holes, .014 tubing, A=440.

Made in 1958, Powell #1886 possesses a rich, vintage, and complex sound. The light weight tubing of this flute is expertly balanced with a masterfully cut headjoint which responds well to varying air speeds, angles and embouchure widths of a player. The blow hole is an equal marriage of the oval and square, beautifully shaped with a natural symmetry. The sound is not bright, but buttery, warm and reminiscent of the tone of a Louis Lot or Bonneville. The woody sound in the core emanates naturally without loosing a bit of responsiveness. This flute would be ideal for a player with small hands as the holes in the key cups are smaller than today's standard.

The flute has been overhauled at the Powell Company and, with the exception of two very minor dings on the footjoint, is in excellent condition.

Just overhauled, no dents, pads are new!
