Verne Q. Powell Flute #334-SOLD

Verne Q. Powell #334, Sterling Silver, Soldered Tone Holes, .014 tubing, French cups, B Footjoint, In-line G, Gold Embouchure plate, with Additional All Silver Headjoint

Made in 1938, this is a rare find of a truely vintage early Powell. Made in the 11th year of flute production at the Powell factory in Boston, it still has the sharp look of a newly made flute with crisp edges on the key cups that were most likely forged from the original molds. The artistic details on the pointed arms, ribs, and key cups are still present as meticulous care was given to this Powell.

The amazing quality of sound found in Powell #334 demonstrates how this company became the premier flute making company for so many years. The sound here defies imagination: rich, ringing, open, woody, flexible, and articulate are words that only begin to describe the tone of this flute. "Complete" would be the word that comes to mind when playing this flute. The sale includes two headjoints. The head with 14K gold lip plate was original to the flute. An additional all silver headjoint was added and both heads are truly wonderful.

Recent work has been provided by Your Flute Works which include new traditional pads on the mainline keys and a Clean/Oil/Adjust was done to insure that the flute is completely responding throughout all registers.
