Brannen-Cooper Silver Flute #404 w/14k Vintage Lafin HeadjointSOLD

Brannen-Cooper Flute #404; Silver Body and Keys, A=442, .014 Tubing Thickness, French Style Key Cups, In-line G, G Insert, C# Trill, Low B (no Gizmo), with Straubinger Pads.

Made in 1983, this Brannen-Cooper is a true vintage instrument. With Tradition Mechanic and Acoustic, it is in keeping with the wonderful era of early Brannens that were still an echo of the Brannens brother's prior tenure at Powell Flutes.

At some point along the way its headjoint was replaced with another true vintage: the 14k Lafin Headjoint. Remarkably, it is one of the few Lafin Headjoints we have come across that does not have the Adler (wings) on the lip plate. The result: a warm, buttery, liquid and very free sound is produced...not far from a gorgeous Julius Baker sound quality!

The combination of sounds the body and head bring together is a powerful core, with intimate capacities in all ways. Extremely responsive, the headjoint can be pushed to fff without any risk of cracking notes. Tapering the notes comes very naturally, as do quick changes in color and timbre, allowing for great freedom creatively. There are many beguiling characteristics that the wonderful marriage of this head and body have to offer, among them: secure pitch, evenness in all 3 octaves, a wonderful line, and shimmering vibrato.

The Brannen-Cooper body is in perfect condition, with no dings dents or scratches. Very recently serviced (Clean-Oil-Adjust) and voiced by Anne H. Pollack/Your Flute Works. The Lafin Headjoint shows a small amount of rippling on the tube in the area of the headcork, but this in no way detracts from the wonderful sound.
