Though Almeida is not one of the best-known headjoint makers, he is one of the greats. He hales from the Powell Tradition, where he was one of the celebrated flute-makers on staff.

Penetrating warmth is brought out by the gold tube, and flexible clarity comes through from the silver lip and crown. A cello-like roundness speaks through the vocal qualities that figure largely in the centered purity of the sound.
